A WAY THE THINGS GET SOUL
A few word on Tsuneo Shibata filmmaking by Dimitar Anakiev

As an artist Shibata is dedicated to beauty of special quality: very delicate and deep. In his movies he is able to find it in various topics using different methods. I found he often urges on water, light, flower and human face, always with great empathy. Even having critical theme ( like in Sabrina ) he speaks originally and gentle, showing love and deep empathy to human being. Shibata's movies are made in modest way, pretending to be a minimalistic art but they are rich and poetic because of his strong vision able to produce visual beauty and fresh associations. I like his ability to find place for his lamp-art master-pieces in his movies too. And his sensitiveness to music. The shorter movie: Ave Verum Corpus, the visualization of Mozart, is a guide to the feeling of God. But his recent movie <Underground women> - acted by beautiful Kaoruko Kajiy - offers complex and touching human feelings. It was always holiday to me watching Shibata visual art: equaly in paper or movies because he, like a magician, gives soul to the things.
